Paul Hemann Joins Covered As Chief Financial Officer

Covered announces the appointment of Mr. 

 as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) bringing 26 years of professional finance and treasury experience in capital markets, telecom, and FinTech. 

Paul joins Covered from IHS Markit, a next-generation information FinTech company providing data analytics and solutions to customers in business, finance, and government for improving operational effectiveness. Paul led a global FP&A team across four business lines spanning four continents and was a key member of the strategic business planning team where he played a pivotal role in consummating the recent acquisition of S&P Global by IHS Markit.

Paul began in Capital Markets, for Media One where he spent four years. Post MBA, he returned to telecom spending nine years with Adelphia through its capital markets and internal controls challenges and eventual sale to Time Warner. 

His professional expertise includes financial planning and modeling, treasury management, capital markets, and complex accounting structures.

Ellen Stanley Joins Covered as New Chief Human Resources Officer

Ellen Stanley joins the Executive Leadership Team at Covered Insurance!

Ellen Stanley, a human resources executive with more than 20 years experience, becomes Covered's new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) following its recent Series A funding and the InsurTech entering into a new phase of growth and expansion.

Stanley, who specializes in leading human resources at high-growth, venture-backed companies, brings to Covered a significant depth of knowledge and skill from her time directing HR at organizations like ING, Cetera Financial Group, Key Corporation & Commercial Bank, and other top financial institutions.

“After meeting and getting to know the team, Covered invited me to join as its CHRO,” Stanley said, “I love to do this type of work, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to pursue our mission with these talented people at this company. In particular, Ross’s energy and leadership as CEO has impressed and inspired me.”

As Covered’s CHRO, Stanley looks forward to building her team and working in partnerships with others in the company. Her goal for the Human Resources group at Covered is to “please and delight” every person in the organization. And, she firmly believes that by continuing to take care of our employees, they will continue to take care of our customers.

Outside of work, one fun fact about her is she has her pilot’s license.

Covered Senior Software Engineer Team Lead Rob Hajek Receives Built In 2021 Tech Innovator Award

Rob Hajek joined Covered as employee number one more than five years ago. Over the years he has worked here, many things have changed. The product has evolved in the quest for product-market fit, and some teammates have come and gone. But, one thing has remained constant: opportunities to grow his skills as an engineer and a leader.

Early on, after first joining Covered, Rob focused on researching how best to build the company’s digital insurance agency. Two years ago, he stepped into a senior role as an Engineering Team Lead. Since then, he has tried to lead and help new team members get up to speed as much as he can.

And, as Covered has grown, Rob has welcomed many new engineering teammates! In conversation with him, he remarked that between two years ago and now, the engineering team here has grown by 300%.

. Given to 50 individuals from across the United States, this award honors 

“the visionaries making a difference in communities around the country.”

 Judges for the award included the Chief Technology Officer of Ellevest, the Chief Technology Officer of Blue Apron, the Director of Executive Innovation at Microsoft, and other leading technology and engineering executives.

In describing Rob’s contributions to Covered and why they selected him for the award, Built In wrote:

“Hajek turned a demo tool into Covered Insurance Solutions’ core quoting platform, so they named it after him. The “Covered Hajform” tool started as a React-driven prototype Hajek built to showcase Covered’s ability to provide homeowners with personalized, automated insurance quotes in a user-friendly environment. Hajek immediately saw the value-add and scalability of a more formal solution so he worked cross-functionally to research and develop one.

The implementation now serves auto insurance shoppers in addition to homebuyers, more than doubling the company’s total addressable market. Hajek also contributed almost 50,000 lines of code to Covered’s three most recently updated repositories.”

Felecia Kinney Joins Covered As Vice President of Insurance Operations

The Covered digital insurance marketplace and agency has continued to expand at a rapid pace. 

, an insurance executive with more than 20 years in the industry, has joined Covered as Vice President of Insurance Operations to help manage this expansion and catalyze additional growth. Felecia brings to Covered decades of experience leading teams at Safeco Insurance and Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Several notable achievements from Felecia’s time at these organizations include playing a key role in the strategic growth and success of the Safeco Gold program, which grew from $700 million to $5 billion in five years; generating over $10 million in new business premium over a 12-month period through site cross-sell efforts; and, improving the Net Promoter Score of her team from 49 to 57 over a two-year period.

“I decided to join Covered as its VP of Insurance Operations because I believe in Ross’s vision for the company and his leadership. I’m thrilled to join an independent agency where I can continue to build the service center into a positive culture as we scale.”

So far, in her time as Covered’s VP of Insurance Operations, Felecia has started to craft the overall direction of her department, work with her team to accelerate sales growth, give the Customer Service team the tools they need to manage daily activities, and ensure that everyone has a voice.

In her spare time, Felecia enjoys traveling and running her own independent travel agency, watching and playing sports such as basketball, bowling, and football, and baking.
